Back from Cuba; and a Kickstarter update
We couldn’t have asked for a better kickoff to our Cuba workshops. Our inaugural group returned Wednesday after spending a week in Havana, talking with and photographing Cubans from all walks of life — from farmers and dancers to boxers and jazz musicians. We learned a lot about the struggles of life in Havana and got a sense of the hope that many Cubans have for what’s to come.
Before the trip, I told group members that photography in Cuba was like throwing a rock into the ocean — you really couldn’t miss. There would be pictures everywhere they turned. Still, I don’t think anything can really prepare you for your first walk through Central Havana. The 60 years’ worth of decay can be a little overwhelming to take in all at once.
Be sure to check out some of the photos group members have been posting on this trip’s special Facebook page, which was created to help promote our Kickstarter book project. The good news is that less than 24 hours after returning from Cuba, we met our Kickstarter fundraising goal, which means our photo book is funded and will be published!
However, there’s still time to order a book before the Kickstarter ends.
